Today is 90 anniversary of Iberia's first flight. The plane flew between Barcelona and Madrid with 10 passengers on board Iberia celebrates this Thursday day, 14, 90 anniversary of start of ir flights. On December 14, 1927 a Rohrbach Roland aircraft with a capacity of 10 passengers took off from Barcelona to Cuatro Vientos aerodrome in Madrid, where he had inauguration ceremony of company in presence of Alfonso XIII and Horacio Echevarrieta, founder and First president of Iberia

Iberia began operations with Rohrbach Roland planes, three-engined with wicker seats that took 3 and a half hours to cover journey between Madrid and Barcelona. They were daily flights except Sundays, taking off from Madrid at 08.00 in morning and from Barcelona at 12:00. The fare was 163 pesetas for trip of Ida and 300 pesetas, if bought back and forth.

In its first month of activity, Iberia carried out 57 flights and transported 287 passengers. As a tribute to Horacio Echevarrieta, a businessman from Getxo, airline has named one of its Airbus A319 with its name.

The airline that presides Luis Gallego celebrated last June anniversary of company's constitution with an aerial exhibition at Cuatro Vientos airfield. The former flag airline, now owned by IAG, was established on June 28, 1927, although it did not operate its first flight until December. Since n, it has transported 900 million passengers.
