The sudden cancellation of new season of Roseanne series by ABC chain after a racist tweet of its protagonist and executive producer, Roseanne Barr, claimed more victims than Roseanne itself. The about 200 people who worked in series were affected by cancellation of which was most watched fiction of chain in ir season back to television. The solution to solve part of se collateral damage is in preparation by same chain with a possible spin off that would not count with participation of Barr.
According to Deadline, project was presented by a group of executive producers of series, with Tom Werner, Sara Gilbert and Bruce Helford in front. The idea would be to keep team of screenwriters and rest of team of Mor series, but condition that puts ABC is that Barr does not participate in spin off in any way, neir creative nor financially. The chain has not yet announced a replacement for Roseanne on its autumn grill, which suggests that y might be shuffling this option as a real possibility.
The new series would be centered on character that gives life Sara Gilbert, who plays median daughter of Roseanne and Dan Conner, Darlene, who in return of series had returned to live with ir parents with ir children. In this way, chain could recover investment made in series, because both Gilbert and Laurie Metcalf and John Goodman will charge at least 10 of 13 chapters planned for delivery because y had signed Roseanne even if it is not issued.
ABC cancelled last May 29 original series after its protagonist published an offensive tweet in which it referred to exadviser of Barack Obama as "if Muslim Brors and Planet of Apes had a son". The Disney-owned chain announced decision in a statement: "Roseanne's claim on Twitter is abominable, repugnant and incompatible with our values and we have decided to cancel series."
