Robles tab as ' right hand ' to an outstanding agent of the CNI

The Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, does not conceal her interest in Secret Service. First he got center of National Intelligence (CNI), which in 2011 became attached to Ministry of Presidency with PP, relied on his department. He has now chosen a leading CNI agent as chief of staff, a position of utmost confidence that involves control of agenda and filter of access to minister.

The chosen is Esperanza Casteleiro LLamazares, who between 2004 and 2008, in first legislature of Zapatero, was secretary general of CNI and, refore, its number 2, Under Secretary category. He was second woman to occupy this position, after María Dolores Vilanova.

The new right hand of Oaks has been in Secret Service for over 30 years and is considered an expert in counter-terrorism. He has been in Cuba and Portugal, among or destinations, and has worked in CITCO (Center for Intelligence against Terrorism and organized crime), which brings toger representatives of police, Guardia Civil and CNI.

This Wednesday, although not yet formally named, Casteleiro accompanied Robles on his first visit to a military installation: headquarters of Military Emergency Unit (UME), at base of Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid). After taking control of CNI, Robles has decided to confirm in office head of Secret Service, General Felix Sanz, whose mandate ends within a year. It has also ratified members of military dome — chief of Defence Staff and heads of three armies appointed by Government of PP in March last year —.
