The Government of Generalitat has given a green light to office of Expresident Carles Puigdemont, as he had requested from Germany two weeks ago. The Official Journal of Generalitat (DOGC) today publishes appointment of Josep Lluís Alay as coordinator of new Office of Puigdemont, which is entitled according to Catalan law. Alay will thus be manager of outer area of cabinet of Mr. Torra, a position for which he was appointed less than a month ago.
Alay, a professional historian and an eminence in Tibet, is one of most trusted people of former President Puigdemont. In fact, he was with him when he was arrested on a trip from Finland last March. The prosecution is investigating him for an alleged crime of cover-up. His appointment in Cabinet of Torra generated suspicions, although from Goven insisted on his certified and extensive experience in matters and international relations. In fact, at time of arrest he was one of those responsible for that area in Diputación de Barcelona.
The historian accompanied president to trip to Washington cultural festival in which Torra and Ambassador Pedro Renés starred in a sultry episode for ir discussion in public. Alay, for example, also opposed Torra coinciding with king at inauguration of Mediterranean Games.
Catalan legislation establishes between prerogatives of former presidents of Generalitat to count an office with three workers, a chauffeur and official car and security services. Alay, explains DOGC, will charge 60,454.32 euros annually (less than in its previous position) and have among its functions "Manage and organize tasks" of office staff, "Organize and control acts, hearings, visits and travel" of expresident and manage Budget and media relations.
According to national, Puigdemont locates his office in Palau Centelles, in historic center of city. Former President Artur Mas has it in Palau Robert.
