The government approves the removal of Puigdemont and calls elections for December 21st

The Council of Ministers decided this Friday removal of Carles Puigdemont and all government of Generalitat of Catalonia, as well as Director general of police, Pere Soler. By assuming powers of President of Generalitat, he has assumed, and has done so, power to disband Parlament and has convened elections for next December 21.

In addition, Council of Ministers has approved submission of an appeal to Constitutional Court against Declaration of Independence adopted in Catalan parliament. After an ordinary call and an extraordinary one, government has also decided to extinguish embassies of Catalonia abroad, to cease its delegates in Brussels and Madrid and Josep Lluís, major of Mossos. All se decisions will come into force as soon as y are published in digital version of official State Gazette.

"We respond to decisions that seek to impose an inadmissible kidnapping of Catalans and ft of part of ir territory to whole of Spaniards," said President Mariano Rajoy in a brief statement after Council. "The state has sufficient means for, in a peaceful and moderate manner, to recover legal normalcy and to dissolve threats that are not overturning coexistence," he added during an intervention in which all his ministers accompanied him.

In se transcendental hours, president of government, Mariano Rajoy, has maintained a continuous communication with Pedro Sánchez, general secretary of PSOE, and Albert Rivera, leader of citizens, his two partners of Constitutionalist front. The chief of government has been sent measures raised in Council of Ministers. The three parties now face most difficult moment of ir alliance: to react to Declaration of Independence voted by Parliament and to intervene specific competencies of Generalitat after destituting leaders of independence challenge.
