Bundestag: AfD group loses other members

The former AfD party chief, Frauke Petry, will not sit alone as a non-political MEP in Bundestag: As a party spokesman has confirmed, North Rhine-Westphalian MEP Mario Mieruch leaves only last week constituted Bundestag Group. The speaker thus confirmed a report of Bild newspaper. Thus, Mieruch justified his step with a lack of demarcation of party and faction from extreme right.

Petry had a direct mandate at Bundestag election on 24 September in her Saxon constituency, but announced day after election that she would not belong to AfD group. Later she also left party and justified this with an uncritical handling of AfD leadership with very right wing of party around Thuringian faction chairman Björn Höcke.

Mieruch is one of founding members of AfD. He is a member of AfD State Association of North Rhine-Westphalia and is considered to be a confidant of Petrys husband Marcus Pretzell. Pretzell was last chairman of AfD group in NRW Landtag. He, too, has now left party.

Petry had tried in vain at AfD party congress last April to bring about a vote on party's "realpolitik stance" advocated by it. It is still open wher it will soon start its own party. In Saxony, she was accused of perjury. We are talking about Petrys in election committee before Landtag election in Saxony, where she was a group and country chairman until last week.
