Hurricane Roller Xavier rolls over Germany weather experts: stay in the house! 

Autumn is serious. It will be extremely uncomfortable in Germany! Storm Xavier sweeps through country, bringing force and heavy rain. Experts warn: stay in house!

The warning is valid according to German Meteorological Service (DWD) from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. It is calculated with force level three. Tier Four is highest warning level.

Particularly affected: Berlin, Brandenburg, parts of Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Also in government district of Kassel (Hesse) is called for increased vigilance.

► Wear experts warn against uprooted trees, falling roof tiles, damage to scaffolds and high-voltage lines.

Gusts of up to 110 km/h are expected – stay in open air is to be avoided if possible.

Especially in coastal area of North Sea and in upper Harz it rains as well as from buckets – up to 50 litres of rainfall per square metre are possible. Thunderstorms can also occur sporadically. Drivers should adjust to Aquaplaning.

The ferry connections to island of Wangerooge have been cancelled. The ferry cannot start port due to expected water levels and force.

► The Metronome Railway Company asked passengers to "stop for delays in rail traffic from noon/Afternoon". The routes between Lüneburg and Uelzen, between Buchholz and Rotenburg as well as between Stade and Cuxhaven were particularly affected.

► In Berlin and Brandenburg storm was announced in morning with rain. "The Regentief is Harbinger," said a DWD spokesman in Potsdam. The wind should increase significantly.

► On Harz Brocken (Saxony-Anhalt) force can reach even 120 km/h. Furr showers and thunderstorms are expected until afternoon.

► In Saxony re is increased risk of force level three. Increased caution is particularly necessary in mountains and Vogt districts, in Bautzen, Görlitz, Leipzig, Meissen, central Saxony, Saxony, Saxon Switzerland and Zwickau as well as in cities of Chemnitz, Dresden and Leipzig.

In Oberwiesenthal, Xavier led cancellation of team competition at German ski jumping championships. In view of predictions (force up to 120 km/h), organizers were unable to guarantee a safe competition.

Xavier also reaches southwest

The Southwest is also not completely spared. In course of morning, Xavier is said to be storming in Baden-Württemberg according to DWD. In afternoon, meteorologists in entire country expect rain and falling temperatures.

    The storm "Xavier", which is to whip over Schleswig-Holstein, Hamburg and Lower Saxony, announces its strong rain.

Even in Bavaria, according to DWD, squalls of up to 75 km/h. On alpine peaks, wind could also reach hurricane strength.
