Pollution : a comparator for calculating the contribution

Airparif provides a tool that allows ile-de-france to measure ir emissions of fine particulates and nitrogen oxides in function of ir mode of travel.

Each Resident can now estimate its contribution to pollution of ambient air depending on mode of travel that he chooses for his daily commute. On occasion of Day of public transport organised on Saturday 16 September, and whose edition of 2017 motto " Choose public transport, it is to preserve air you brea ", Airparif launches a calculator to " encourage ile-de-france to choose modes of travel over clean ".

Accessible on website of organization, it allows you to compare six modes : car, bus, subway-RER-train-to-tram, two-wheelers, bicycle and pedestrian. For private vehicles, calculation takes into account number of passengers, thumbnail Crit'Air and engine (gasoline, diesel, electric or hybrid). Two pollutants are considered : particulate matter (PM10) and oxides of nitrogen (NOx).

practice Exercise. A single person who takes her car Diesel stamped Crit'Air 4 model (over 10 years) to go to his place of work (round trip 10 miles) will learn that it product with 15.8 g of NOx, and 1.4 g of PM10 against 0.14 g of PM10 and no Nox if he prefers subway.

" This tool is intended to help ile-de-france to change ir behavior and make choices in an informed manner on ir daily mobility ", explains Frédéric Bouvier, director of Airparif, agency in charge of monitoring air quality in Ile-de-France. Frédéric Bouvier recalls that " road traffic is main source of pollution" in paris region. 1.4 million in île de france are exposed to concentrations of fine particulate matter (PM10) or oxides nitrogen (NO2), which exceed limit values (50 µg/m3 in daily average PM10, 40 ág/m3 annual mean for NO2).

France is subject of a proceeding on part of european Commission for se overruns, and in a judgment of 12 July, State Council has urged government to take all necessary measures to be developed and implemented as soon as possible a plan is able to reduce levels of emissions in order to comply with se standards. At region level, plan of protection of atmosphere (PPA) for Ile-de-France for period 2017-2020 should be subject of a public inquiry from 18 September.

Two days later, this time for national Day of air quality, Airparif will launch Airlab. Presented as " premier accelerator for innovative solutions for air quality ", Airlab aims to evaluate and support projects aimed at improving quality of air. It will bring toger start-ups, SMES, large enterprises, communities, research institutes and citizens.
