Trump dismisses his secretary of state, Rex Tillerson, and replaces him with a falcon

US President Donald Trump today opened a new crisis in his turbulent cabinet. A few days after start of tariff war and accept by surprise meet face to face with North Korean leader, Kim Jong-UN, Republican president announced removal of his secretary of state, Rex Tillerson, and his replacement by director of CIA , Falcon Mike Pompeo. The CIA headquarters will be occupied in turn by controversial Gina Haspel, strongly criticized for its endorsement of tortures. Both Pompeo and Haspel stand require confirmation from Senate. With departure of Tillerson, falls anor of heavy weights of moderate sector (last week was economic adviser, Gary Cohn) and confirms once again dizzying ability of Trump to burn equipment.

The blow was made to hear. Tillerson's dismissal had no contemplation. It was pure Trump. A tweet and out. The State Department itself, in an unusual statement signed by a high office, made it known that " Secretary of State had not spoken to president that morning and that he did not know reason" of dismissal. "The secretary had every intention to remain because of tangible progress made in critical matters of national security," he riveted note.

The dismissal, anor more in one cabinets more turbulent of history of United States, Evicencia a fracture which was already well-known. Tillerson, former skipper of oil giant Exxon, had crashed since first weeks with president. Thoughtful and accustomed to long-term agreements, his management was pulverized by Trump style. The president's untimely Tuis and his eagerness to assume diplomatic command at all times deepened this distance.

This terrible relationship was evident when in July it was leaked that, after a dispute in Oval Office, Tillerson, desperate, had told his team that Trump was a "stupid". An affirmation that in repeated interviews that was made to him never denied. And that led president to publicly humiliate him with following comment: "I believe it is false information; But if you said so, n I guess we'll have to compare our IQ's. And I can assure you who will win. "

The contempt transcended personal. Trump imposed his steamroller on State Department where he could. It cut 30% of its budget and, on each occasion, showed its displeasure with guidelines of Tillerson. It happened with his commitment to a dialogue with North Korea, which in his day Trump considered "a waste of time"; But also with Paris agreement against climate change, with displacement of US embassy to Jerusalem, with tariff war and with nuclear pact with Iran, which secretary of State barely saved thanks to support of security adviser National, Herbert McMaster, and Secretary of Defense, James Mattis. A decision of which Trump, despite having assumed it by internal pressure, did not stop complaining in public and in private.

The disagreements were so notorious that y had turned Tillerson into a walking corpse from last November. In Washington term Rexit (of Rex and Brexit) was coined to refer to its imminent march and was openly spoken of its substitution by Pompeo. His lack of charisma and scant support provided by diplomatic corps, for whom he never ceased to be a stranger, increased a sense of provisionality that has precipitated with face-to-face that president decided to maintain with North Korean supreme leader. This was, according to American media, straw that filled glass.

Trump received last Thursday at White House South Korean emissaries who had interviewed Kim Jong-UN and transferred his offer of direct dialogue. To surprise of those present at meeting, Trump accepted challenge without consulting with anyone and also ordered that Seoul Legacy itself was in charge of announcing it to world in same building as White House. Only once decision was taken, Tillerson was informed. The Secretary of State was in Africa travelling and coup, immense contempt of his council and offices of diplomatic corps, left him stunned. So much so that, according to American media, he had to cancel all his activities on grounds of sudden discomfort. Five days later, Trump announced his removal.

Your replacement, Mike Pompeo, is an old acquaintance of president. Former Republican congressman, y both unite a conservative ideology and frank manners even ruthless. A loyal hard-line defender, Pompeo, who once recommended Tillerson, has gained weight in White House. His expository clarity and division of world into friends and foes is greatly appreciated by President.

This appeal became apparent today, when announcing crisis of government, extolled in a statement figure of "Mike:" as director of CIA, Mike has earned appreciation of Members of both parties improving intelligence garing, modernising our Defensive and offensive strengths, and strengning ties with our friends and allies in international intelligence community. I have come to know Mike very well in last 14 months and I am sure he is right person for this critical juncture. [...]. He will continue our American restoration program (...) and seeking denuclearization of North Korea. " Tillerson didn't dedicate a line to him.

Mike Pompeo, Director of CLA, will become our new Secretary of State. He will do a fantastic job! Thank you to Rex Tillerson for his service! Gina Haspel will become new Director of CIA, and first woman so chosen. Congratulations to all!
